Trails and PathsCommunities everywhere have built multi-use paths and trails to serve the outdoor exercise needs of their residents. These paths are constructed for a multitude of recreational uses and often traverse varied and interesting landscape, places that may be of particular interest to birders.
This series presents a number of walkways and paths in Utah and more particularly, Utah County that may be of interest to local and visiting birders.
There are numerous books identifying the different trails in Utah, but none (yet) that describe these trails in terms of their birding potential. This series will attempt to do that, while at the same time give the birder a sense of 'what comes next'. Of particular importance are the services offered along the way, such as benches, restrooms and drinking fountains.
Additionally, as unique and rare birds are seen, the observer may want to be able to tell others accurately where a particular bird was seen, to enable others to go to that same spot and find it also, therefore, this series will include the path distance in feet and miles for each place or feature identified.
Utah prides itself as a safe haven, however even here, there are those who would do harm. So, please do not go alone and take care at all times. Some paths and trails, by their very nature are quite removed from population centers and medical facilities, although most have cellular phone coverage. Please go prepared.
