I am really enjoying your comments and the PowerPoints that Julia is sending. Thanks!

My dad talked about the connection between being able to read and building (and keeping) faith after his experiences in the Philippines and South Africa. Teaching people to read is surely an important part of your missionary work! But I can see how difficult it would be if they don't speak English--how can you teach them to read a language you are just learning yourselves? (Or would that make you the ideal teachers?)

You're absolutely right about the connection between obedience and blessings. My son-in-law is one of the youngest of 13 children, and as he has observed his oldest siblings and their nearly-grown families, he has commented on the differences in their lifestyles, their education levels, and their outlook on life--directly related to their obedience or lack thereof to Gospel principles.

We'll be praying for your success in finding those who are willing to be obedient, for they shall be truly blessed!

I expect if you looked over the wiring between you and the central office you would find more creative splices and wire management. It is a wonder you have wired access. It is a good thing ADSL is fairly robust.

Thanks for the updates. I'm glad you are getting settled and able to get out and do the work you went for.

You are absolutely right about obedience bringing blessings. The biggest blessing is knowing that when you are obedient you are in the care of the Lord. Then what happens is his will and is a blessing.

Hi,
We have been slow to view and respond to your wonderful commentary. Things continue to go well in the Provo YSA 13th Stake. We have lost 5 High Councilors to bishoprics and find ourselves with only 7 brothers - we miss you:) Give our best to your sweetheart and may God bless you both for your selfless service.
Our love,
Bruce and Sandy Ewell

That looks beautiful. My Mission home was also beautiful. Remember that when Isreal was created, they were carried on the backs of Kings and Queens, who were also there nursing mothers and fathers.

Kathleen received a grant to study in Viterbo Italy this summer. She is taking a crash course in Italian. I am also trying to learn it, but not doing as good. Will post more information as time permits.

Robin and Julia: I just wanted you to know that I am following the blog and thinking about you regularly. I'm sure you will be a blessing to many people there.

I know you are not spending your time bird watching but am curious about whether you are seeing interesting birds as you are out an about.

Best wishes,
Tom

It is good to hear from you. I admire your sense of adventure and faith to leave familiar comforts and take big risks.

When Scott and Jamie lived in Taiwan, Jamie said one of the first things she did was memorize phonetically the names of every major street withing 10 miles of their home, and then to recognize those names written in Mandarin conji on street signes. She got lost once walking around the city, and when she finally found a familiar landmark and got home, she decided it was time to become navigationally skilled. You might consider that option yourselves. They also bought a 125cc motorcycle, which saved lots of money on transportation. You could buy a couple of them and do just as well too.

I hope you continue to enjoy the service and that you make a few new converts of your own.

Love you,
Dave and Kathy
