Lucin Latilong
Edges and Corners
Caution
Fuel can be hard to come by in this corner of the state, with Grouse Creek and Rosette being the only places to purchase it, and then only during normal business hours.
Additionally, maps can be misleading. For example, Lucin is marked as a town but it is not. Lucin was once a town but now is just a pond and a few trees beside the rail road tracks.
Lucin cut-off.
Earthworks are an obscure art form where the artist tries to alter the
landscape or place large objects on it to suggest some abstract idea. One
of these, Sun Tunnels is in the desert near Lucin, Utah. A description and
picture can be found here.
Get there by driving south from Lucin, at 2 miles turn left and drive
another 2 miles, then turn right and drive for 3/4 mile. Sun Tunnels
consist of 4 large concrete tubes (pipes) aligned with the summer and winter
solstices. These were constructed in 1976 by Nancy Holt.
